Stacey Boge
“I have been taking pictures for as long as I can remember; not
because I wanted to be a photographer but because I had this need. From
the start people would always tell me their secrets whether I asked or
not. The camera has brought strangers that much closer to me. I have
been working on a series of landscape and details of my surroundings.”
Stacey Boge studied for a BA in fine art at Parsons School of Design,
New York, in 1981, and then in 1983 went on to do her MA at Yale. Since
then she has worked as a commercial and fine art photographer in NY, her
clients include Estee Lauder, Donna Karan, Revlon, Sam and Libby,
and Jo Malone. This series entitled “Reincarnation” is part
of her personal work “She picks up bits and pieces... a discarded
leaf, a shrivelled rose, a broken stem...things most of us would
walk by or heedlessly trample. And then, in what can only be a sort
of Zen-like contemplative state, she fashions them into an image that
resonates with an essence, of beauty, of life, of the thing itself. These
images are continually surprising because they are both still and
dynamic. The eye is quite content to rest on one small twig until it is
distracted by an out-of-focus thorn, the eye is moved first around, and
then through the frame into another dimension”, Michelle Bogre,
Chairman, Parsons School of Design.
