No animal has captured the human imagination quite like the horse, first depicted in cave drawings thousands of years ago, through to countless paintings sculptures and depictions in all mediums including film.
Tim Flach's collection, Equus, is intended as an exploration of the species in its own right – captured as detailed studies, and en masse; from the air and from underwater, Equus celebrates the animal whose history is so powerfully linked to our own.

From exquisite Arabians in the waters of the Gulf States to the thundering majesty of mustangs racing across the plains of Utah, Equus provides a unique insight into the physical dynamics and spirit of the horse.. Flach's work takes us from the controlled environment of the studio to the extremes of remote natural locations moving seamlessly between the genres of large format and 35mm photography

At every turn the results are dramatic and eye-catching. A recent documentary by Discovery's Animal Planet channel charted the progress of his seven year long project.

A graduate of St. Martins School of Art where he studied Photography & Painted Structures, Flach has spent the last twenty years as a highly successful advertising photographer. More recently he has focused on his own personal work, culminating in the Equus project. His work has been exhibited internationally, and has received many awards, including D&AD, AOP, PDN Photo Annual and Photographer of the Year – Fine Art at the International Photography Awards.
