"The success of groups like IPSE demonstrates how productive the
outcomes can be when collaboration rather than competition is the
preferred pathway. By making us view the world and photography through
their eyes, these image makers enrich our lives - and their own." -
Paul Hill MBE, FRPS, Professor of Photography, De Montfort University,
Leicester.
IPSE arranges talks, residential weekends, evening meetings, a
newsletter and periodic exhibitions - all within an atmosphere of
encouragement and non-competitiveness. Speakers have included Paul
Hill, John Blakemore, Thomas Joshua Cooper, Mark Haworth-Booth, Eamonn McCabe, Grace Robertson, Mari Mahr, Joy Gregory, Ori Gersht, Steve Pyke, Nicholas Sinclair and Hamish Fulton. Jem Southam and Anna Fox
will be leading workshops in the Autumn. Past workshops have ranged
over classic silver-gelatin photography, pinhole photography,
alternative processes, hand-made books and the uses of digital
photography.
