JANUARY 2005 EXHIBITION

Martyn Colbeck: The Elephants of Amboseli
January 18 to February 5, 2005
Tuesday - Saturday, 11am - 4pm. Admission Free.

The Independent Photographers' Gallery is proud to present the first UK exhibition of the acclaimed film-maker Martyn Colbeck's powerful black and white images of elephants.

In these photographs Martyn attempts to convey something of what makes elephants so special - their complex social relationships, their tenderness, their strength and their place in the African landscape. Some of the more impressionistic images explore both still and motion picture techniques creating photographs that are extraordinary and arresting.

Thirty toned & black and white images, printed by Robin Bell from this body of work, are on show and for sale; a percentage of sales will go to the Born Free Foundation and the Amboseli Research Project. Our thanks to exhibition sponsors Accomplice, TAG, Mike Robertson Associates and Batcheller Thacker.
