Originally founded in 2001 by renowned photographic printer Robin Bell and his artist wife Lucy, the gallery is one of the premier venues for promoting art photography in the south east, outside of London. The gallery will exhibit the work of established Big names¹ as well as showcasing the work of lesser known photographers whose reputations are yet to be established. For 21 years, Robin Bell has been printing for many top international photographers including Terry O'Neill, David Bailey, Don McCullin, Ernst Haas, Bill Brandt, Harriet Logan and Eve Arnold to name a few, and his reputation is second to none. When he moved to the Sussex Coast with his family, he started a laboratory and gallery space in the Old Brewery in Battle. The gallery has had great success, and exhibitions have been featured on Woman's Hour (Fay Godwin), Ned Sherrin's Loose Ends (Terry O'Neill) as well as reviews in the Guardian Guide, critics' choice in the Sunday Telegraph, as well as numerous reviews in Black and White Photography Magazine, HotShoe, Amateur Photographer, and BJP. In October 2006, the gallery extended into larger premises on the same site, more than quadrupling the exhibition space. At the same time the team were joined by artist/photographer Ray Kyte as Co-Director. SUPPORT THE GALLERY THANK YOU
